ScaleOut Software Introduces Digital Twin Builder with its v5.8 Release

Industry-leading in-memory computing platform adds breakthrough features for stateful stream-processing.

BELLEVUE, WA – October 23, 2018 ScaleOut Software, a leading provider of in-memory computing software, today announced the version 5.8 release of its in-memory data grid and in-memory computing platform, called the ScaleOut Product Suite. This release introduces the ScaleOut Digital Twin Builder™ (Beta), an innovative software toolkit designed to enhance the ability of stateful stream-processing applications to perform real-time analytics while simplifying their design. Version 5.8 also introduces a next-generation API library for distributed caching within .NET Core 2.0 applications as well as numerous enhancements to ScaleOut’s in-memory computing platform.

With the ScaleOut Digital Twin Builder, application developers now can build stateful stream-processing applications that employ the powerful “digital twin” model. This model is quickly gaining attention for real-time streaming analytics because of its ability to enable deeper introspection on streaming data than previously possible, leading to more effective feedback and alerting. Numerous applications can benefit from this technology, including industrial IoT, logistics, healthcare, security, and ecommerce.

“We are very excited to be able to offer industry leadership with the introduction of digital twins for use in real-time streaming analytics,” said Dr. William L. Bain, founder and CEO of ScaleOut Software. “We believe that this powerful new approach to stateful stream-processing will enable our customers to derive valuable new real-time insights from their streaming data and enable important new capabilities.”

Digital twin models combine application code for streaming analytics with dynamic state information about each individual data source, thereby allowing applications to immediately analyze incoming telemetry in a much richer context than previously possible. For example, by using a digital twin model, a predictive analytics algorithm that tracks temperature readings from a medical freezer can examine model-specific information, recent maintenance actions, and other relevant activity instead of just relying on temperature trends alone. Analysis that traditionally was performed offline in batch processing with long delays now can be moved into real-time analytics, enabling more effective feedback within operational systems.

Version 5.8 of the ScaleOut Product Suite also includes a beta release of its next-generation API library for distributed caching with .NET Core 2.0. This library incorporates the latest advances in API design for .NET, including fully asynchronous operation and simplified, flexible configuration, and it takes advantage of ScaleOut Software’s more than thirteen years of technology leadership in distributing caching for .NET.

Battle-tested for more than a decade in more than 450 mission-critical commercial deployments, ScaleOut StateServer®, ScaleOut’s in-memory data grid, includes several advanced features, such as transparent scaling, integrated high availability, distributed LINQ query, support for ASP.NET Core 2.0, and WAN-based replication. ScaleOut StreamServer™ and the newly released ScaleOut Digital Twin Builder™ (Beta) add object-oriented, in-memory computing technology for building stateful stream processing applications using the “digital twin” model popularized by Gartner Research with integrated real-time, data-parallel analysis. ScaleOut StreamServer includes several features that simplify development, including integration with Kafka messaging, ReactiveX APIs, and time windowing libraries.

ScaleOut Software’s portfolio of in-memory computing products are available for use on premises and on AWS and Azure.
